Community Alliance Against Family Abuse (CAAFA) is one of 269 nonprofits urging the public to support survivors of domestic violence and financial abuse during the 2018 Allstate Foundation Purple Purse® Challenge, which takes place Oct. 2 - 31. Now in its fifth year, the annual friendly fundraiser, which coincides with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, helps state and local domestic violence organizations fund critical services for their communities.

CAAFA is one of eight agencies in Arizona participating in the Purple Purse Challenge, and the only participating domestic violence shelter for the San Tan Valley area.

Domestic violence affects all communities. In fact, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime regardless of socio-economic background or ethnicity - more than breast, ovarian and lung cancer combined.

Each year, the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse program ambassador designs a limited-edition purse. This year, tennis champion and philanthropist Serena Williams designed a suede and leather purple backpack. Each participating agency received a backpack to support their fundraising efforts. CAAFA’s backpack will be raffled; every $10 donation increment given to Purple Purse Challenge team member A’ndrea Keating’s page will count as one raffle ticket for the backpack, valued at $350. The winner will be selected on October 31, 2018. Keating is a local real estate agent and a domestic violence survivor, who has committed to raising funds to support CAAFA’s vital services. CAAFA will also send a Purple Purse Charm to every Purple Purse Challenge donor who gives $10 or more. All donations are tax deductible.  Donate here.

Since the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge began in 2014, it has raised nearly $10 million for state and local domestic violence nonprofits. Since 2005, The Allstate Foundation has invested more than $60 million to help empower more than 1.3 million domestic violence survivors.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or TTY 1-800-787-3224. In Pinal and eastern Maricopa counties, call CAAFA’s 24-hour crisis line at 480-982-0196.

Purple Purse is a signature program of The Allstate Foundation, an independent, charitable organization made possible by subsidiaries of The Allstate Corporation. The Allstate Foundation works to create more prosperous communities where people are inspired and empowered to fulfill their hopes and dreams by breaking the cycle of domestic violence, inspiring the next generation of leaders, closing the nonprofit leadership gap and honoring Allstate volunteers. About Community Alliance Against Family Abuse
CAAFA’s mission is to empower individuals, families, and communities to be free from abuse through collaboration, prevention, awareness, and support. Our agency was founded in 1998 by community members who were confronted by the tragic reality that local victims of domestic violence and their children were living in their cars and out in the desert because they had nowhere to go. CAAFA has grown substantially since then, now serving victims of domestic abuse from Pinal and eastern Maricopa counties. We provide a 16-bed emergency shelter, support groups, legal advocacy, case management, sexual assault victim advocacy, nutritional support through food boxes, community outreach services, and more.
