The Florence Unified School district in conjunction with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office would like to remind you of the importance of the guidelines for Bus Stop Safety.
Many of our subdivisions are without sidewalks or common areas and have narrow streets. This makes it difficult to place school bus stops that are compliant with the Arizona DPS requirements. We have received multiple calls from community members in various neighborhoods with reports of student behavior, bus stop safety, and respect of property concerns. They have asked that certain bus stops be relocated and that student conduct be addressed.
We work to visit stops as frequently as possible, all drivers review and enforce bus expectations, and all student handbooks include bus expectations as well as consequences for violations. Please remember that riding the school bus is a privilege and the school bus stop is an extension of the school therefore, all school rules and bus expectations apply.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind you that students loitering in the roadway is also a violation of Arizona Law (13-2906) Obstructing a highway or other public thoroughfare.
Please assist us in reminding your bus riders of the expectations at the bus stop and on the bus. Riding privileges will be suspended if violations are repetitive.
