Hunt Highway is currently CLOSED to traffic between Johnson Ranch Boulevard and Bella Vista Road for crews to construct improvements in this area. The following tentative schedule is provided for the upcoming work and paving activities over the next few weeks.
Taking place this week (week of August 8), crews are conducting paving activities in Hunt Highway, between Johnson Ranch/Gantzel and Red Road. During this work, all Hunt Highway traffic is routed onto the new Gantzel Road Extension as a detour around the work zone. Local access is being provided from the north for Rural Metro Fire and customers and staff of Johnson Utilities and Allstate Self Storage. Businesses at the San Tan Mountain Dental, Chase Bank, and AutoZone have access off of Golf Club Drive.
Later this week, Friday (Aug 10), as paving between Johnson Ranch/Gantzel and Red Road is completed, paving activities will shift north between Red Road and Bella Vista. Once this work begins, local access will be provided at Gantzel Road from the south for Red Road residents (Canyon Rock community), Rural Metro Fire and customers and staff of Johnson Utilities and Allstate Self Storage. We realize there may be some inconvenience as this shift takes place so we ask for your patience and flexibility during this time. This access is expected to remain in place until the closure is fully removed (by August 24).
Scheduled to begin 9PM Friday, August 10, through 4AM Monday, August 13, the intersection of Hunt Highway and Bella Vista Road/Golf Club Drive will be closed to all traffic for paving activities to take place in the intersection. In addition, Hunt Highway between Bella Vista Road and Red Road will be paved during this time. See map.
Scheduled for the weeks of August 13 and August 20, crews will continue work in Hunt Highway, between Bella Vista Road and Red Road to install median islands and brick pavers in the center of Hunt Highway and adjacent pedestrian improvements. To accommodate this work, a closure of this area (Hunt Highway, between Bella Vista Road and Red Road) will remain in place; however, should the work allow more relaxed traffic restrictions, that may occur. During this work, local access will continue to be provided from the south for Red Road residents (Canyon Rock community), Rural Metro, Johnson Utilities and Allstate Self Storage.
Scheduled for early the week of August 13, paving crews will conduct paving activities to pave the final course (top layer) of asphalt in Gantzel Road, and also areas at the Hunt Highway and Johnson Ranch/Gantzel intersection. This work is estimated to take 3-4 days to complete.
Scheduled for Thursday (August 16), paving will take place at Johnson Ranch Boulevard, just south of Hunt Highway. During this time, Johnson Ranch will be closed and not have access to Hunt Highway on the south side of the intersection. Message boards will be up in advance of the closure to inform drivers of this daytime ONLY work.
Work on the Judd Road and Tourmaline alignment continues with paving tentatively scheduled for late August.
The closure of Hunt Highway is expected to be fully removed by Friday, August 24.
Scheduled for the week of August 27, work will begin on Hunt Highway from Johnson Ranch Boulevard/Gantzel Road to Magma Road. During this time, motorists will continue to have access along Hunt Highway, with traffic shifted away from the work zone onto temporary asphalt.
Business and resident access is being maintained, and we thank you for your continued patience during this construction.
