Board of Supervisors Approve New Supervisor District and Justice Precinct Maps

20220303-174222SupervisorDistrictsWithVoterPrecincts_2022-Revised

At Wednesday's Special Session meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved a new Supervisor District map and a new Justice Precinct map.

While the Justice Precinct Map includes minor changes, there are significant adjustments to the Supervisor Districts, meaning several cities and towns move into new Supervisor Districts.

In summary:

  • District 1 flips from the east side of Pinal County to the west, with Supervisor Kevin Cavanaugh now representing the City of Maricopa as well as a portion of Coolidge and the Gila River and Ak-Chin Indian Communities.
  • District 2 remains focused on the San Tan Valley and Queen Creek communities, though Supervisor Mike Goodman's geographical area has shrunk since the population of San Tan Valley and Queen Creek has significantly increased over the last ten years, and Supervisor Districts are required to be equal in population.
  • District 3 continues to oversee Casa Grande and Stanfield, with Supervisor Stephen Miller now overseeing larger parts of Eloy and Coolidge as well as representing the Pinal County portion of the Tohono O'odham Nation Reservation.
  • District 4 retains Arizona City, Red Rock, and SaddleBrooke but now adds SaddleBrooke Ranch, Oracle, San Manuel, Mammoth, the majority of Florence, and the southern portion of San Tan Valley.
  • District 5 spreads east from its Apache Junction HQ, adding the Copper Corridor areas of Superior, Kearny, Winkelman, and Dudleyville to Gold Canyon and Queen Valley. Supervisor Jeff Serdy will now also oversee a portion of Florence and represent the Pinal County portion of the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation.

The new Supervisor Districts become effective for election and voter registration purposes on March 3, 2022, at 12:01 A.M., and effective for all other purposes, including operational, budgetary, and administrative purposes, on June 30, 2022, at 12:01 A.M.

The new Justice Precinct map becomes effective for election purposes at 12:01 A.M. March 3, 2022, and for jurisdictional purposes effective 12:01 A.M. May 1, 2022.

Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Jeffrey McClure commented on today's decisions, "I'm pleased that we have been able to approve new Supervisor Districts and Justice Precincts today after a whirlwind process against an extremely tight timeline, required due to elections taking place this year and the need to send every registered voter in Pinal County a new ID card.

I want to thank County staff and my fellow Supervisors for their hard work and flexibility through the process, but most of all, I want to thank the Public who gave their input. Public input does matter, and the considerable difference between the first Supervisor District map and the version we have today approved serves to demonstrate this."

Important Voter ID Card Information for All Pinal County Registered Voters

Every voter will be receiving a new Voter ID card due to the impact of the redistricting process on Congressional Districts, Legislative Districts, Board of Supervisor Districts, and Justice Precincts.

Registered Voters can expect to receive a new Voter ID card from the Recorders Office in mid-late April.
